A Personal Message from Our CEO
Dear Cobble Hill Families,
As you may already know, we have stopped allowing visitors into our
building. The decision wasn’t easy. We deeply appreciate our residents’
families and believe in the therapeutic importance of family visits. We
actually view our residents’ families as part of our care team. After all,
who knows our patients better than their family members? I lost sleep last
night thinking of the anxiety and fear that patients and family members may
feel as a result of the ban.
The reality is that COVID-19 has the potential to take a great toll on our
society’s most vulnerable people.
One of the reasons I love my job is because I get to take care of your
family members. I’ll be darned if I’m not going to do everything in my
power to protect them. That’s why we made the difficult decision to close
our doors to visitors.
As I write this, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the Cobble Hill team who
are an extraordinarily dedicated group of caregivers. They constantly and
consistently put your family members before themselves. Day after day.
Even during these anxious times. Wow!
I also want to thank all of you for your understanding. When I walked in
early this morning I heard from one family member after another how much
they appreciated what we are doing to protect their loved ones. To be
clear, they aren’t happy about this and neither are we. But their
cooperation and support will get us through this.
While we are hoping and praying that this passes quickly so we can resume
regular visitation, we are also making arrangements just in case it doesn’t.
